Csakan - The Recorder of Early Romanticism
Peter Thalheimer, Nik Tarasov, Eva Praetorius: Csakan & Flauto d'amore, accompanied by guitar and strings
Sounds from the least explored period of the recorder's original repertory - the early romantics!
Performed for the first time entirely on old original instruments made between 1815 until around 1850. After research activities of several decades, Peter Thalheimer and Nik Tarasov have assembled original Csakans which have been restored and made playable.
For the first time we can get an idea of the recorder's sound as played at Musical Salons and at concert stages in the first half of the 19th century.
Just original works by Anton Heberle, Leonhard von Call, Ernest Krähmer, Franz Xaver Mozart, Maximilian Leidesdorf, Anton Diabelli, and Stephan Franz have been recorded, in typical line-ups with the romantic guitar and with strings accompaniment, performed by the Divertimento musicale ensemble.
